COUNTING MY BLESSINGS.

I feel so blessed. So many wonderful friends near and far.
Had a phone call from a new found friend in WA yesterday. Jenelle. We must have spoken for an hour.
She has been an exceptional Mission Mum to Michael and I will be forever in her debt.
Hopefully one day I can wrap my arms around her and thank her personally
Her and Michael are kindred spirits sharing the same taste in music and other things.
Thankyou Jenelle.
Its been a reflective day for me. It started off with taking photos of the gifts I'd received for my birthday and in the background of one of them was the photo of Beulah Vaughan.
So I shared her photo on facebook.
  • Jennene Lammi When I was a little girl and my Mother had to return to work as a nurse, I would have to walk down to Beulah and Vera's home to be looked after for the afternoon. Both Beulah and Vera were sisters who never married but chose to live together for the rest of their lives and take care of one another.

  • Jennene Lammi Beulah would paint, play the piano (which she taught me for some time), bake, knit, crochet, embroider, read and do some gardening.

  • Jennene Lammi She was an articulate woman who held her back straight and had impeccable manners. She spoke with precision and used correct grammar at all times. She was very educated and continued to read and read and read until she could no longer. Her knowledge of the gospel was unmeasurable.

  • Jennene Lammi I remember though that she was scared to death of storms and when a storm was approaching, my Mother would walk down the street to where she and Vera lived and would sit with her until it passed.

  • Jennene Lammi In her later days when she was very weak and sick and after Vera had passed on , my Mother would go down to her and take her nightly meal and bathe her. Beulah was indeed grateful for Mum to do this as you can imagine, she was a woman of dignity.

  • Jennene Lammi When my baby Son Sam died, she was one of the last to come into me while we had a viewing. She walked over with tears in her eyes and held my hand, nothing was said, nothing had to be said. She just stood there and I could feel the heartache in her heart for me. I quietly hugged her and told her that everything will alright.

    • Jennene Lammi Vera was the gardener. Look at those sunflowers that are behind her. She loved sunflowers, and at her funeral I believed they were placed on her coffin.

    • Jennene Lammi I miss you Vera, I miss that little green mini you used to take me to primary in and the door would fly open while going around the corner. Deaths door was upon me every Thursday afternoon and many a driver would be beeping their horns at her telling her to move onto her side of the road.

    • Jennene Lammi I miss that brown bread you made, I can still smell it. I miss the clothes you made for me. I miss the cumquorts, the custard apples, the dew dews. I miss that big old copper bath and the sunlight soap you bathed me in. I miss that big old bed with the homemade quilts on it.

    • Jennene Lammi Kylie Groundwater-Bryde, remember the rabbit heads she made out of paper mache and we won the parade in which we wore them.

    • Naomi Groundwater Cartner They were both such elegant ladies. Real gentlewomen.

    • Naomi Groundwater Cartner Did Vera make those? I saw the pics and assumed Kylie had made hers.

    • Jennene Lammi Vera was also a gorgeous little lady who had a heart of gold. She would mother me and I just lapped it up. I remember when Mum and Dad went away on assignments both Vera and Beulah would have me down for tea and it was like they waited on me hand and foot. Both main course and desert was served.

Well I'm the big 50. Its been a wonderful few days starting off the celebration on Friday night  (thankyou Tanya Boylan for organising it )with some girls from church. We hit the restaurant Viva Italiana which was really nice and the staff were fantastic. I was spoiled with lots of gifts. We all had a lovely time, talking and laughing.
Saturday morning Sue, my SIL took me to breakfast at Indulgence which a really lovely little cafe in town. The only problem was, it was freezing and we had to sit out on the footpath as every table was taken. (note to self: take Gary there one saturday morning, the pancakes looked delicious.
Saturday afternoon I drove Jesses beast, the 26 yr old corolla down to Caboolture where I and Chris (turning 60) celebrated with family and a few friends.
I feel really blessed to have such wonderful friends and family. Got spoiled again with alot of gifts.

Just a few more photos of our beautiful Jayden. He's growing up so fast and its so hard living so far away from Josh, Emily and Jayden.

Hahaha the middle one looks like hes trying to talk.

Had an amazing Stake Conference yesterday. Probably because Jesse was ordained an Elder
WOW! my boys are growing up and getting on. I cant believe how quickly time flies. Sometimes I just want to lay down and sleep and let time stop for a while.
Seeing lots of old friends is always amazing as well.
At the next Stake conference we will be looking forward to Michael returning within a few days of it.
